Norfolk teen creates field of flags to honor veterans

A northeast Nebraska teenager is showing his patriotism in a unique way in observance of Veterans Day.
Many people have taken down their Halloween decorations and are about to put up displays for Christmas, but for one Norfolk teenager, his home is decorated for another holiday – Veterans Day.
Seventeen-year-old Thomas Landkamer has set up a field of approximately 90 flags in his yard — each dedicated to the men and women of Nebraska who have died during the war on terror since September 11th of 2001.
Each flag has a photo and biography of the fallen soldiers. Landkamer also wants to display the field of flags each Memorial Day, Flag Day and Fourth of July.
The flags will be on display through Saturday.
