Corps officials meet with the public tonight (Monday) in Omaha

The U-S Army Corps of Engineers will hold the first in a series of public meetings on this year’s flooding. Senator Mike Johanns worries flooding will be a big concern next year and we will have repeat of the summer of 2011. He says if there is any unusual amount of snow melt or rain next spring, we will “be back in the soup again”.
Senator Johanns says they must get the levees fixed and to do that river flows will have to be reduced. He is worried they are running out of time as snow will fly soon.
The Corps has been highly criticized for the way it handled this year’s flooding. Tonight’s meeting will be held at the Omaha Marriott Regency, 10200 Regency Parkway at 7:00 pm.
