Close encounter of the furry kind: Lincoln residents get an unusual visitor

A surprise visitor at the Knolls Country Club in Lincoln last night got local law enforcement on high alert.
Lincoln Police Sgt. Don Scheinost says their help was requested after the 800-pound elk charged a Nebraska Games and Parks biologist trying to contain the animal.
Scheinost says this residence and the elk were very close to 27th street during rush hour and had already jumped several fences in the neighborhood.
Game and Parks felt they needed to put the animal down.
Game and Parks officials had been tracking the bull since Monday, when someone spotted it limping near Lincoln.
