Zombie Walk is good clean fun

The Benson area of Omaha will take on quite a different look on Saturday. Wayne Brekke is the organizer of this year’s Zombie Walk and says don’t knock it until you try it. He says for those who have not “zombied” before, come early and they will help you look and feel the part. Professional make-up artists will available for a fee before the walk. For those who don’t want to be a zombie can play the part of a victim. Those people will be marked with an X and will eventually be attacked. That is when they can join the walk.
This is the fourth year for the zombie walk in Benson near 62nd and Maple Streets. The first year 250 people participated. The second year that number doubled and last year more than 1,500 people took part in the zombie parade.
Brekke says this is a family friendly event and they have zombie toddlers to senior citizens taking part. The walk itself will start at 5:30. An “Undead After Party” will take place after the walk at the Waiting Room. All proceeds from that event will benefit the Sienna-Francis House, an Omaha homeless shelter for men.
