September a deadly month for motorcyclists

September was a deadly month on Nebraska roadways for motorcyclists. Fred Zwonechek, Nebraska Highway Safety Administrator tells us there were six fatal motorcycle accidents during the month of September resulting in seven fatalities.
Zwonechek says the extended nice weather means motorcycles will still populate the roadway. He says all vehicle drivers need to be alert to their presence. There is big problem now with sun glare during commute times. He also reminds motorcyclists to obey the rules of the road, speed limit and wear a helmet.
By September 30th, Nebraska recorded 133 fatalities to date and 20 involved motorcycles. Statistics show there were 14 motorcycle fatalities in 2010, 15 in 2009 and 20 in 2008.
