Veterans urged to take part in health fair

The Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting a health fair on Tuesday, September 27th at the V-A Medical Center in Omaha. V-A Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System’s spokesman Will Ackerman says they look forward to events like this as it is an opportunity for medical experts to distribute information that could safe a life.
VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System staff will provide information about topics that include dental care, tobacco cessation, aging, living well with chronic diseases, Alzheimer’s, nutrition and wellness, financial planning, and more.
Veterans may also get health screened for glaucoma and vision, blood glucose levels, osteoporosis, colon cancer, body-mass index, and blood pressure.
Veterans and employees can also be screened for osteoporosis and colon cancer.
There is no charge for the medical screenings. The health fair is from 10 am until 2 pm at the V-A Medical Center in the lobby and the Education Conference Room at 41st and Woolworth Ave. in Omaha.
