How riverfront parks weathered months of flooding

The flood waters have receded at N-P Dodge Park in Omaha but that doesn’t mean the area is again ready for visitors. Brook Bench is a spokesman with the Parks and Recreation Department and says there is a lot of cleaning up of debris to do before the area is safe. Crews will be working to clear the roads and other areas of silt. They are also inspecting each tree for damage. Bench says many weathered the storm well.
Conditions are better at Freedom Park along the riverfront in Omaha but it too needs a massive cleaning. Bench says there are many areas of deep silt and everything will need a good cleaning. All of the park’s artifacts survived the flood and remain in place.
