Turnovers help in Creighton's third straight win

Gregory Echenique had 16 points and Kenny Lawson Jr. added 10 points as Creighton won its third straight game, a 60-47 victory over Western Illinois on Monday night. Creighton never trailed while outscoring the Leathernecks 23-2 off turnovers. The Bluejays improved to 7-4 on the season.
Echenique’s 16 points paced Creigthon and he had four blocked shots, two assists and a steal in his second game at Creighton. Lawson had 10 points, a team-best six rebounds and a career-high four assists. Antoine Young also had six points, five assists and four rebounds.
The Jays shot 44.2 percent from the floor on the night, which helped offset a woeful 3-of-19 effort from long-range and 11-of-20 showing at the line. Keyed by Echenique, Creighton’s bench outscored Western Illinois, 30-9.
