Bruning is returning money

The check is in the mail.  Republican Attorney General Jon Bruning who plans on running for Senate tells us that he is returning $500,000 from the federal government that was to be used to fight the growing meth problem in the state. Bruning says he’s returning the money to fight meth because it was earmarked money.
Bruning claims that he accepted the money before he released it was earmarked money. Bruning acknowledges that he doesn’t know what will happen to the returned $500,000. Nebraska’s Republican congressional delegation have joined their national counterparts and come out against earmarks. They have criticized Democrat Senator Ben Nelson for securing earmarks for Nebraska projects including research at the university.
