State legislators are working on a list of possible cuts that could be made to help balance the budget next year. They’ve been considering what would have to be eliminated to trim Nebraska’s general fund by 10 percent. Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood says the report just a series of options, not recommended cuts. Legislators are facing a massive shortfall when they return to Lincoln next month. A group of lawmakers pegged the deficit at 986-million dollars, while the state’s economic forecasting board says we’re facing a $1.4 billion budget gap through mid-2013.
