The Hastings women defeated William Carey on penalty kicks (3-2) Thursday afternoon to advance to the semifinals of the NAIA Women’s Soccer Championship in Decatur, Alabama.
The game was tied at the end of regulation and the overtimes at 1-1 and the Broncos outscored William Carey in the shootout. William Carey scored first at the 51 minute mark and then Hastings tied the game with a goal by Jessica Carlson in the 80th minute.
Amanda Olson, Davonne Holland and Rebecca Glisan scored to give the unseeded Broncos a 3-2 win on penalty kicks. The Broncos (16-4-3) will play Baker KS today at 2pm central which beat Hastings 4-3 in overtime earlier in the season.
The Hastings men are also in the semifinals. They play tonight at 6pm central time taking on William Jewell, Kansas City, MO.
