The Nebraska-Omaha hockey team remains in fourth place in both weekly hockey polls for the third straight week. The Mavericks were ranked fourth in the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine weekly rankings of the top Division I teams in the country following a bye week during the Thanksgiving weekend. The Mavs also moved up one spot to third in the latest power rankings compiled by InsideCollegeHockey.com. It is their highest position in that weekly ranking.
The Mavericks are back on the ice this Friday and Saturday, when they visit the WCHA’s other newcomer, Bemidji State. It will be their first trip ever to Bemidji, Minn. The Mavs are 5-1-0 all-time against the Beavers. UNO (9-2-1, 6-1-1 WCHA) has now been ranked fourth, its highest ranking ever, for three straight weeks. Overall, the Mavs have been in the top ten of both polls for seven consecutive weeks.
