Police in North Platte now say the alleged victim in a weekend crime was actually the criminal.
A worker in a fast food restaurant claimed a man came through an unlocked back door just before midnight on Saturday. The worker, Todd Herndon, claims the man held a knife to his throat and demanded money, as he was counting the day’s receipts.
Now, investigators say Herndon made the whole story up and had taken the Taco John’s cash for himself. Herndon was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of theft and making a false report.
Police aren’t saying how much money was involved.
