Huskers shutout Shockers 14-0

Tyler Niederklein, Luke Bublitz, Chris Williams and Sean Yost limited Wichita State to two hits while combining for eight strikeouts, as Nebraska (17-16) picked up its second shutout of the year winning 14-0. DJ Belfonte tied a career high with four RBIs.
The Shockers had just one hit throught the first 8.1 innings on a ball that fell in front of the pitchers mound thanks to strong wind. That wind would have no effect on Adam Bailey. He hit his Big 12 leading 14th homer in a six run second, which came into the teeth of a 30 mph wind. WSU starter TJ McGreevy had two outs and a runner on second, when NU strung together five straight hits capped by Bailey’s homer.
Belfonte went 2-for-4 with four RBIs while Bailey had two hits, including his Big 12 leading 14th homer of the season. Kyle Bubak also drove in three runs. career bests in both innings (five) and strikeouts (four) in posting his second victory.
The Huskers will return to action this weekend, as Nebraska hosts Kansas this weekend. Friday’s first pitch is 6:35 p.m.
