Creighton softball freshmen Amy Baker was been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. In six games last week, Baker went 9-for-17 (.529) with six home runs and 14 RBI as CU won five of those games. She tripled her season home run total and doubled her season RBI total in the span of six games. CU plays Kansas in a double header on Thursday.
The Omaha Westside grad started the week with two home runs and driving in six runs, while going 3-for-3 in her first game against North Dakota State on Monday. She followed with a single and home run in the first inning alone against NDSU in the night cap to finished the doubleheader 5-for-5 with three home runs and eight RBI.
Baker then smacked a three-run home run against Nebraska on Wednesday and would connect for two more long balls against Wichita State in the Bluejays’ three-game sweep of the Shockers.
