Abortions past 20 weeks banned in Nebraska

Speaker Mike Flood - NorfolkAbortions would not be allowed if the unborn baby is 20 weeks old or older under legislation expected back before state lawmakers before they adjourn. Sponsor Speaker Mike Flood told us that the concept of fetal pain in legislation is not new.
“U.S. Senators…had introduced this measure in the United States Senate to inform patients undergoing an abortion prior to the procedure being performed that the baby could feel pain at certain stages of pregnancy, but that bill never advanced.”
The legislative proposal is expected to get final approval and be signed by Governor Dave Heineman within the next few days.
