Huskers Take Care Of Wildcats

The Nebraska Cornhusker baseball team hit the road for the little apple this weekend and their three game series against the number 20 Kansas State Wildcats. The Huskers started the weekend off right with a 5-3 win over the Wildcats.
Nebraska starting pitcher Michael Mariot would throw seven good innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out seven.
The Huskers would get on the scoreboard first. In the third inning, Adam Bailey hit the first of his two home runs on the day, this one a three run shot putting Nebraska up 3-0.
Kansas State would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to draw within one.
In the fifth, Nebraska would score one more run thanks to a two out RBI single from Tyler Farst scoring DJ Belfonte.
The Huskers would add an insurance run in the seventh when Bailey hit his second home run of the night. Those two long balls now give Bailey 12 on the season.
Nebraska will take on Kansas State again this afternoon at Toiton Family Stadium. Khris Tate will be going for his third straight win.
Game time is 2:00 this afternoon.
