17 month moratorium on new hospitals passes 2nd round

Legislators are giving second round approval to a bill that would create a 17 month moratorium on all new hospital Construction, something Senator Tom White of Omaha thinks is ridiculous.
“We already tell hospitals what they can charge, how much will be reimbursed, how much they can overcharge private individuals, now we can tell them when they can build what they can do.”
However, supporters of the bill have concerns over physician owned hospitals that may pick and choose what types of care the hospital would provide. The issue will be studied during the moratorium on new hospital construction.
