Husker sports briefs

There is a lot of talk coming out of Nebraska’s spring football practice that the offensive line has improved and has great depth and now the Huskers are getting a great jump on 2011. They’ve got their fourth offensive linemen to commit and fifth overall. 6’8 280 pound Ryan Klachko from Springfield, IL was heavily recruited by a dozen schools including Missouri.
He said when he pulled into Lincoln for his visit and saw the big N lit up at night on the stadium, he thought it was a sign for him to come to Nebraska.
The Nebraska bowling team competes today at Nationals in New Jersey. The Huskers are the defending champs. Cassandra Leuthold was named Bowler of the Year at the pre-tournament banquet last night. She’s averaged 209 this season. I bowled a 215 once in my life. That’s an amazing average!
At the Nebraska men’s basketball post season banquet, head coach Doc Sadler said he could foresee some other changes coming to his coaching staff after the departure of Walter Roese to Hawaii, but won’t make any changes for at least the next week. Sadler has two recruits coming in this weekend. Ryan Anderson was named the team’s player of the year.
Bad news for NU freshman pitcher Kurt Giller. He’ll have elbow surgery after an MRI showed a benign cyst on his right humerus. Giller decided to come to NU after being a 21st round draft pick last year by Toronto.
