Ashford: get priorities straight!

Omaha Senator Brad AshfordThere are $700 million of projects on the books at the University of Nebraska at all three locations and Senator Brad Ashford of Omaha asked that there be a moratorium on any new building projects by colleges and universities. He says first, the legislature needs to get their priorities straight when it comes to protecting things like human rights and education.
“The problem is that young babies are gonna be born and they’re gonna get sick, and they’re gonna die, and we are spending $700 million on buildings that we can’t afford.”
Ashford says his moratorium resolution is about focusing on legislation about making sure children get the care and education they deserve. He later pulled his resolution saying he was trying to make a point.
