Windstream goes before NPS commission

Windstream Vice President Brad Hedrick told the Nebraska Public Service Commission that they take last week’s phone outage very seriously.
“We have a lot of attention on this from both the engineering and operations teams.  Our resolve is to make sure this never happens again.”
Hedrick told the commissioners that he felt the magnitude of last Thursday’s outage was overblown by the media.
“And we appreciate anytime there is a 911 outage that it’s a serious issue and we do take that very seriously and we are working on some things going forward on that issue.”
Hedrick says the complexities of the situation lead to misunderstandings. Hedrick says that many Windstream customers never lost the ability to call 911 and another 160,000 had the service restored within about 2 1/2 hours.
