Offutt honors fallen veteran, Tuskegee airman

Offutt Air Force Base is honoring a fallen hero in a ceremony today. A road on the base is being renamed for Lieutenant Colonel Harrison “Harry” Tull.
Tull lived in the nearby suburb of Bellevue and died at age 89 last October from cancer. His 27-year flying career included time with the famed Tuskegee Airmen, the first black fighter pilots’ group in World War Two.
Tull also served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Because of his service with the Tuskegee Airmen, he received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2007, the highest award presented by the U.S. legislative branch.
Tull was also inducted into the Nebraska Aviation Hall of Fame and the U.S. Air Force 55th Wing Hall of Fame.
The Offutt ceremony is at 2 o’clock this afternoon.
