The Nebraska baseball team was looking for their second series win in Stillwater, OK in the last 40 years, but came up short losing the rubber game of a three games series, 11-9 on Sunday afternoon.
Nebraska jumped to a four run lead, only to see Oklahoma State respond with a pair of big innings. OSU put up six runs in the second and five more two innings later. On Saturday, Khris Tate made his first Big 12 Conference start and the junior right-hander scattered six hits and allowed just one run over 51/3 innings to lead the Huskers to a 9-2 win on Saturday. The Huskers will host Creighton on Tuesday.
On Sunday, D.J. Belfonte, Adam Bailey and Chad Christensen had three hits apiece for the Huskers, while Cody Asche had two hits, including his sixth homer of the year, and drove in three runs. NU jumped out to a 4-0 lead against Oklahoma State starter Andrew Heaney.
NU starter Tom Lemke who came into the game 4-1 on the season, was done after 1.2 innings after giving up six runs in the bottom of the second.
