Millard manufacturing plant closing

Workers at the Connectivity plant in Millard got the word today the doors are closing for good. Corporate Communications Director Rick Aspan says the manufacturing process is being transferred to another facility. The Omaha location will close by the end of 2011.
There are 400 employees at the Omaha facility and Aspan says they will be given severance packages that will help them through the transition.
Aspan says a changing global economy prompted the closing. He stated between the high cost of labor and the under-used facility forced them to find alternate ways to manufacture their products.
The facility was built in the late 1950’s by Western Electric and at one time employed seven-thousand workers.
