Senator Nelson comes to Lincoln to discuss roads

A Transportation Summit will be held in Lincoln Tuesday.
“Many times its federal regulations that hold up projects. You always have to have an environmental impact statement and that can take anywhere from three to five years to complete”
State Senator Deb Fisher of Valentine is Chairwoman of the Legislature’s Transportation Committee and says they will be talking about the issues that delay the projects because time is money.
“There are a number of transportation projects in the cities and the counties dealing with bridges and roads and we need to get them moving forward because of the cost of inflation of these projects.”
Senator Fisher says we need to figure out how to get these projects completed within a time frame.
“We need to move ahead. People want good, safe roads to drive on. It is important to us.”
Senator Ben Nelson is hosting the summit at the Lincoln City Council Chambers at 1:30. The meeting is open to the public. It starts at 1:30.
