Human remains found in Lincoln

Lincoln Police are investigating the discovery of human remains under the Salt Creek Bridge Tuesday afternoon. Officer Katie Flood says that upon initial examination, investigators do not believe it was a natural death. Officer Flood says there was damage to the bones indicating some trauma associated with the death.
Officer Flood says that area is frequented by transients, so she says there is a high liklihood that the victim was homeless. officer Flood says it is too soon to know the age or sex of the deceased.
Officer Flood says investigators processed the scene until late Tuesday night and will be meeting with forensic archeologists to determine the identity of the victim and the cause of death. The person is believed to have died before or in the fall of 2009.
