Another abortion-related bill will be debated in the Nebraska Legislature. Senator Cap Dierks of Ewing has designated the bill as his priority. It would ensure women who are undergoing abortions are informed of all the risks of the procedure.
Dierks says it’s something he has pushed for several years. “I haven’t been around and counted the votes on the bill,” Dierks says. “I think I know pretty well how people feel about that issue so, I feel pretty positive about it because I know that we have a strong pro-life body in this legislature. Probably two-thirds of the group are very strong pro-lifers.”
Dierks says he knows there are Senators that won’t like having the debate. He says lawmakers should not shy away from debates about life. Dierks says, “Anytime we can do something to protect a few more lives of unborn children, I think it’s worth it.”
