Johanns shares worries for Medicaid patients

U.S. Senator Mike JohannsThe President says he supports the tactics being proposed by Democratic leadership in Congress to get a health care reform bill passed. Critics including Senator Mike Johanns say the reconciliation process in the Senate and the tactic of deeming the bill passed in the House without an actual vote will only produce a bad result. Johanns told us, the plan would force 15 to 18 million people to Medicaid, but many health care providers won’t serve Medicaid patients.
“35 to 40% of the doctors in the U.S. and in Nebraska do not take medicaid patients because they cannot afford to because the reimbursement is so poor.”
Johanns says more health care providers will turn away Medicaid patients if the bill passes.
