The Nebraska softball team completed a doubleheader sweep of South Dakota at Bowlin Stadium on Wednesday, taking the second game by a score of 9-3 after rallying to win the first game 7-5. The Huskers pounded out 13 hits game two, one shy of their season high. NU scored in four of their six innings at bat. The win improved the Huskers’ record to 15-13 on the year.
In a reversal of game one, senior right-hander Alex Hupp earned the win and sophomore right-hander Ashley Hagemann picked up the save. In 4.1 innings, Hupp (2-0) allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out six. Hagemann earned her first save of the season by allowing one unearned run on three hits in 2.0 innings of work.
In game one Hagemann got the win despite giving up three home runs in her five innings as NU had to rally from down 4-0 in the first game to win. Julie Brechtel extended her hitting streak to a career best 11 games.
