DJ Belfonte hit two homers, as the Husker baseball team wrapped up a perfect homestand with an 11-6 win over South Dakota State Tuesday afternoon.
Belfonte went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers, three RBIs and scored four times in helping Nebraska (8-7) to its fifth straight win. Freshman Josh Scheffert hit a three run homer in the first inning off of SDSU starter Shane Kraemer, to help the Huskers jump out to a 4-0 lead after one inning. Scheffert drove in a career high four runs, going 2-for-4, as Nebraska took an 11-2 lead after five innings and cruised to the win.
Nebraska pounded out 14 hits, as Adam Bailey had two hits and two RBI, while Kale Kiser had went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. The top four spots in the order went a combined to go 12-for-17 with 10 RBIs and eight runs scored.
