NU women earn #1 seed in NCAA tournament

The Nebraska women’s basketball team earned its first-ever No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and is headed to Minneapolis, Minn., for the first and second rounds, joining Connecticut, Stanford and Tennessee as a No. 1 seed.
The Huskers, 30-1, will open against 16 seeded Northern Iowa who just knocked off Creighton in the Missouri Valley Conference Final to gain the NCAA bid. Huskers and Panthers play Monday at 6pm. Head coach Connie Yori said, “We’re obviously excited about being a No. 1 seed. It is an honor to mentioned right up there with UConn, Tennessee and Stanford, and it is a result of all the hard work and dedication our players have put into this season.”
The Huskers would face the winner of Minneapolis’ other first-round game featurning No. 8 UCLA and No. 9 NC State if they can beat the Panthers.
