Maybe a bit of nerves or a little bit of rustiness early on for the third ranked Nebraska women. Despite missing 18 three point attempt and a feisty Kansas State team in the first half, the Huskers came away with a 63-46 win in their first game of the Big 12 tournament here in Kansas City.
Kelsey Griffin scored 16 of her 24 points in the first nine minutes of the second half. Cory Montgomery scored 13 points and Dominique Kelley added 11 for Nebraska, which plays either Texas or Texas A&M in a Saturday semifinal.
K-State held the Huskers to 33% shooting in the first half and trailed 27-26 at the break, but Griffin took over scoring nine points during an 11-5 run and then later a 13-2 run finished off the Wildcats.
The Husker play again on Saturday at noon.
