Breed happy with updated math and english standards

Proposed national educational guidelines don’t appear to concern Nebraska Education Commissioner Roger Breed.
“The general comment that the teams here in the department have stated is that Nebraska standards, which have recently been revised in math and reading, match up pretty well with the proposed common core standards that were released in draft form.”
The new national guidelines are aimed at moving math and English instruction closer to standards that are more uniform and more rigorous. The public has until April 2nd to comment on the proposed new national standards. Developers of the guidelines hope to publish final education goals for K-12 math and English in May.
