All-American Tara Oltman has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. The senior went 3-0 with a 0.39 ERA in three appearances at the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., last weekend.
Oltman allowed only 13 hits and one run, while striking out 24 in 18 innings of work. On Friday, she pitched four innings of one hit relief to earn the win over Samford, as the Jays won 1-0 in eight innings. She then followed with a complete game victory over UC Santa Barbara that same day.
Against UNI on Saturday, the top hitting team in the MVC was shut down by Oltman as she scattered five singles and struck out a season-high 13 (one shy of her career-high) in a shutout of the Panthers. It was her 35th career shutout and 100th career complete game.
