Hastings women win GPAC tournament

The Hastings College women’s basketball team won the GPAC Tournament Championship over Northwestern 81-70. Neither team scored in the first two minutes of the game, but the Broncos jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back.
The Broncos took a five point lead into the break, but the Red Raiders closed to one point at 18:08 of the second, but the Broncos rattled off 14 unanswered in less than 3 minutes to gain their biggest lead of the game at 15 points with 15:20 remaining. From that point on, Northwestern was not able to get any closer than eight.
Lindsay Ducey led the Broncos with 20 points and 9 rebounds in only 28 minutes. Heather McKeon sparked Hastings with big 3 pointers going 5-8 on the night for a total of 15 points after going 0-7 in the semifinal game on Saturday. Freshman, Kendra De Jong scored 29 points on 13-18 shooting.
The Broncos will now wait to see who they get paired up against in the NAIA National Tournament in Sioux City, IA next week.
