Child Dies In Hotel Swimming Pool

It was a tragic end to a birthday party Saturday night. Iyana Allen was attending the party at the Executive Inn and Suites at 72nd and I-80. Paramedics were called to the hotel around 10:30 after the girl was found at the bottom of the swimming pool. She died at an area hospital. The pool closes at 10 pm and it is not known how long she was under water. Iyana was in the care of family friends and her parents were not at the event. Back in 2006, the hotel was a Howard Johnson’s when a five year old boy from Marshalltown, Iowa drowned in that pool.
