The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks beat the #1 Miami RedHawks on Saturday night thanks to three unanswered goals to split the two-game weekend series, their final regular season games in Central Collegiate Hockey Association play.
This is the first time UNO has beaten a top-ranked team since beating Michigan State in October of 2000. This also snapped a 12 game losing streak against the RedHawks. The last time UNO beat Miami was in 2005. The Mavericks improved to 17-13-6 overall and 13-12-3-2 in the CCHA. They finish the regular season with a non-conference series against #5/7 Bemidji State on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27 at Qwest Center Omaha. Friday’s game begins at 7:35 p.m., and Saturday’s game faces off at 8:05 p.m.
