Good financial news for Cabelas

Sidney-based Cabela’s is announcing some promising financial numbers for the 4th Quarter of 2009, and plans to open four new stores.
The company’s latest report shows total revenue increasing 5.5 % to $917.6 million, and retail store revenue up eight percent to $463.8 million. The quarter’s net income was slightly down at $52.4 million, compared to $54.7 million in the 4th quarter of 2008.
In a news release, company CEO Tommy Millner says, “Our fourth quarter and full year results exceeded our expectations and reflect the significant progress we have made related to our strategic initiatives.”
Millner credited advertising, merchandising and customer service improvements among the reasons retail profitability improved. Millner also says Cabela’s is in final negotiations to open two new stores in the United States and two stores in Canada in 2011. Specifics will be released when negotiations are done.
