Under a bill moving forward in the legislature, the needs of the roads currently in existence will be the priority, not the completion of future roads projects. The bill was introduced by Senator Deb Fischer of Valentine.
“And next year, we’ll work on the harder task of trying to move ahead in the next 10 or 20 years of meeting all the needs across the state.”
Fischer says the legislature may need to look at bonding next year to pay for the future road projects. She says now is the time to concentrate on what she calls the current seven-point-seven billion dollars of assets we currently have in roads in the state.
