Hartington truck dealer struggles to keep GMC franchise

A truck dealer in northeast Nebraska is getting ready to take on General Motors in an effort to hang on to his GMC franchise. Darrell PietzĀ  owns Pietz GMC in Hartington and says he’s gathering petition signatures to show support in the upcoming arbitration hearing.
Dealers get a chance to plead their case in front of an arbitrator between now and June. Pietz says he thinks the support could be crucial in the hearing process. He’s hoping to get three-thousand signatures to bring a “great influence” to his case.
Pietz says having a GMC franchise is important to him and his customers. He says the warranty on the GMC vehicles is for five years and he doesn’t want to have to tell his customers who might have a problem that they have to drive 100 miles to the nearest dealership in Norfolk.
The dealership has been associated with GMC for 55 years.
