Albin on aid to pregnant illegal immigrants

Some pregnant Nebraska women might continue to receive Medicaid-covered prenatal care despite earlier signals they would be cut off. The Nebraska Health and Human Services Department says some false information went out because of a misinterpretation of federal rules. The clarification does not affect pregnant illegal immigrants, whose coverage will end unless lawmakers create a new program. That development is being watched by Nebraska Right to Life.
“Toward that end we have been involved in a few meetings at the Capitol with State Senators and following the lead of the State Senators in how to address this legislatively.”
Spokeswoman Julie Schmidt Albin tells us that the state senators trying to work for a resolution for this problem know that Nebraska Right to Life is supportive and deem this a pro life issue.
