A violent start to the week in Omaha

It was a violent day Monday in Omaha. Two people were shot and killed within four hours of one another. Omaha Police Officer Jacob Bettin says it appears a 15 year old Benson High School student had walked to a bus stop after school dismissed at 3 p.m. when he was gunned down near 48th Avenue and Bedford.
“When officers arrived, they found a male party down in the middle of the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The boy has been identified as Everett Williams Jr. There were a number of parents present picking up their children at the time and Williams was surrounded by other students waiting for the bus when he was gunned down.
About four hours later, a man was found shot to death at a house near 61st and Jaynes. Police have identified that victim as 38 year old James Dancer. He had been shot several times and was dead when officers arrived.
Police are not saying if these two shootings are related. They are looking for a white vehicle they suspect is related to the Williams shooting.
Omaha police have arrested one man in the murder of 19 year old Maurice Parker. Cary McCarty of Illinois was arrested this morning and booked on several felony charges Tuesday morning, including homicide. Parker was shot outside Kelley’s Hilltop Lanes, a neighborhood bowling alley near 48th and Hamilton.
