Whiteman looks to save benefits for state workers

Budget problems face Nebraska Senators and Lexington Senator John Whiteman is trying to make sure if state workers are furloughed they won’t have to pay extra for benefits such as health insurance.
“I think, I’m not confident, I think there is a good possibility that we might see furlough days, and I think if we have to make further cuts because of the February forecasts then that likelihood is greatly increased.”
The state could be several hundred thousand dollars in the hole in the next biennium.
