Husker wrestling wins dual, big day for D-II wrestlers in Blair, NE

The 12th-ranked Nebraska wrestling team stretched its winning streak to three with a pair of victories over North Dakota State (33-9) and North Carolina State (31-10) Sunday afternoon at the NU Coliseum. The Huskers are now 8-3 on the season. Plus, Division II wrestlers from the state fared well at the Dana Open in Blair, NE.
Seven Huskers won both matches on the day with the NU being led by Craig Brester, the 197 pound senior. He is 17-0 after he claimed two wins. The wins came on pins of North Dakota State’s Drew Ross and North Carolina State’s Andrew Tumlin. Brester needed exactly two minutes combined to win both matches.
At the Dana Open, which took place in Blair this weekend, six Nebraska-Omaha wrestlers won at the tournament including Cody Garcia at 133 pounds. Garcia is 24-0 with 19 of his wins coming by pin. Nebraska-Kearney senior Marty Usman, the nation’s No. 1 wrestler at 174 lbs., picked up his third tourney title of the year by going 4-0.
