Fire at Cabela's in Sidney

Quick work by Cabela’s employees appears to have prevented a potential disaster at the company’s corporate offices in Sidney Monday.  Sidney volunteer firefighters and city staff responded to a report of a rooftop fire at about 7:45 Monday morning.
Fire Chief Keith Stone says a combo heating/air conditioning unit caught fire, and was put out by Cabela’s employees using fire extinguishers. Stone says he did send some firemen on the roof to survey the scene. The entire corporate headquarters was evacuated until 9:00 a.m. local time.
Workers could be seen trying to stay warm inside their vehicles in the parking lot on what was a very cold Monday morning in Sidney. Stone says smoke did get inside the building and no injuries were reported.
The cause is still under investigation.
