Fortenberry opposes prisoner move to Illinois

Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry says the proposed transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees to a prison in Thompson, Illinois could present new legal challenges to holding the prisoners. Fortenberry told us, the detainees could then be given more rights.
“The same legal status, the same legal rights that American Citizens have, so the problem with that is in the courtroom, you’ll have rules of discovery that might conflict with national intelligence.”
Fortenberry says there are two bills in the House that could stop the move, but he doubts there is enough momentum in Congress to block the decision.
