Big 2nd half from Griffin leads NU over CU

The Nebraska and Creighton women put on a great game yesterday and the stars for both teams stepped up their play. Missouri Valley Conference player of the year Megan Neuvirth led Creighton with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Naismith Award candidate Kelsey Griffin scored 31 points, 22 of them in the second half as the Huskers pulled away for a 69-56 win over the Blujays moving to 9-0, to tie their best start in program history.
The Jays forced the Huskers into 21 turnovers, but also committed a season-high 21. The Huskers made the most of those opportunities as they posted a 26-14 advantage in points off turnovers; the first time Creighton has been bested in that category this season. The Jays hung with the Huskers for much of the evening, as they brought it to a one-possesion game at the 5:21 mark of the second half. After failing to tie the game on two straight possessions, two straight three-point plays by the Huskers, the first from Dominique Kelley and the second from Griffin, put the game away for Nebraska.
