Shopped online? Don't forget to pay the state

If you do your holiday shopping over the internet, don’t forget the sales tax! Nebraska Tax Commissioner Doug Ewald says even if the site does not charge you sales tax, the state of Nebraska is still expecting it.
“We hope that citizens will do the right thing, but a lot of it is not that they don’t want to do the right thing, it’s an education issue, people may not realize that they have an obligation if there is no sales tax on their invoice.”
Ewald says the state tax owed will be five and a half percent, but you also need to remember to add in any local taxes that apply.
