Bars encouraged to end price wars

Downtown Lincoln Bars next to the UNL campus are being encouraged by local authorities to voluntarily end the price war…that is allowing young people to get drunk for very little money. Bryan LGH Independence Center Director Jerome Barry tells us that all would benefit.
“We work with a lot of adolescents and young adults and we hear through the treatment process how easy it is to get served in Lincoln and how easy it is to get served to the point where they get intoxicated, so yeah that’s problematic especially for kids who ate in that abuse stage.”
The Nebraska Liquor Control Commission along with local law enforcement and university officials have been working with downtown bars to stop the proliferation of drink specials.
