Big 12 North Champions!!!

I thought the preseason pick for Big 12 North Champions was a little early in the Bo Pelini era, but the Nebraska Cornhuskers proved me wrong. NU punched their ticket to Dallas in early December to face #3 Texas for the Big 12 title with a 17-3 win over Kansas State.
Zac Lee was 13 of 19 for 166 yards and one touchdown and Roy Helu Jr. rushed for 95 yards and a score while the Blackshirts denied K-State the endzone.
K-State managed a field goal on the opening drive of the game that went 10 plays covering 58 yards capped by a 44 yard field goal from Josh Cherry. The Huskers came right back with their only possession of the first quarter on a drive that ate up 7:42 off the clock. The 14 play drive ended with an Alex Henery 34 yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3.
On the Huskers first possession of the second quarter, they drove 42 yards, plus got help from a 15 yard personal foul penalty to go up 10-3 when Lee found tight end Mike McNeil for a 17 yard pass. That’s how the first half would end and head coach Bo Pelini said at the half, his team left some points on the field when Lee got picked off at the goal line.
K-State never found the end zone, but had chances to put points on the board, but Cherry missed field goals of 51 and 33. The clinching score came on the Huskers first drive of the second half when Lee hit Niles Paul for a 42 yard pass off a beautiful play action pass that was set up after two Helu runs. After the pass completion, Helu ran in from 14 yards out to add the final score of the game.
